Carine Gilson, the Belgian Couture Lingerie Designer

February 22

Born in Belgium and working in Paris, the fine lingerie designer Carine Gilson began her creative career by studying Fine Arts at the Brussels Academy. After graduation, she continued her studies at the celebrated Antwerp Fashion School that was once a home to such talented alumni as Dries van Noten and Martin Margiela. At that time, she became so fascinated by lace that she decided to undertake an ambitious venture by founding in 1994 her own brand of Lingerie Couture.

The Carine Gilson’s philosophy is about considering lingerie to be more than just a simple item of clothing or an object of necessity, a view which is shared by other haute-couture lingerie designers. By carefully selecting the materials she works with starting from the finest Chantilly lace and sumptuous Lyon silk, and using a veriety of colour palettes for her collections demonstrate her unique approach to interpretation and place of lingerie in a woman’s life. Bold statements in lipstick red and majestic purples, delicate interpretations in peach pinks, classic notes in jet black – all intermigle in elegant array of her collections dripping with luxury and beauty.

Guia la Bruna – Romantic Couture Lingerie from Italy

January 16

Guia la Bruna is a relatively new couture lingerie brand that was started by an Italian lingerie designer and factory owner, Guia la Bruna. The lingerie emanating both retro and contemporary look has a variety of styles, most of which are based on the old patterns by reworking them into modern styles. The collections are inspired by the fabrics that Guia la Bruna carefully selects for her collections. Everything starts from there, from the feeling of color or print.

Every season is bound by the same concept of marrying retro and contemporary into uniquely feminine and romantic looks, yet every season the collections are driven by a different mood. For example, one season might be inspired by the private world of the fifties divas, who were perceived as eternal muses and perfect incarnation of absolute femininity.

The collections settings are either the most luxurious hotel rooms or the background of the stage, the perfect dvellings of the divine creatures, who were all wrapped up in precious silks, begining with the most exquisite silk lingerie sets and small silk-chiffon tops and finished with bold and colorful silk dresses dripping with the luxurious retro allure. Elegant by day, glamorous by night, the charming sophistication is gleaming through the fine fabrics, abundant with such details as velvet ribbons, strasses and vintage lace.

Guia la Bruna bra styles run from A to D cups. Many liquid fabrics, such as silk muslin, that the designer is so fond of are quite difficult to work with if the pattern becomes very constructed. For that reason, Guia uses silk muslins more for tops and shorties, than for cups, which are usually constructed of the sheer fabrics making it very difficuls to create the same style in larger cup sizes.

Guia la Bruna couture lingerie is designed for women from the age of 20 to 45, who want to feel unique, romantic and feminine. Guia tries to make each style different, so that every woman could find something to her taste and liking, something that would be more than just a pretty lingerie to wear, but that would become an expression of her own deep femininity. Guia la Bruna’s goal is to give women the luxury even in privacy, to empower women to feel being loved and desired.

La Perla, the 2000s’, a Leap of Luxury

July 6

Beautiful, sexy and elegant beyond any imagination, La Perla lingerie and swimwear has been delivering its luxurious styles and collections to women all over the world for many decades. However, the 2000s era is worth special mentioning, since it appears to be very significant for La Perla’s brand and business development by including many turning points, which left famous imprints in La Perla’s history.

After years of research and development, the 2002 has marked the La Perla successful launch of its first Pret-a-Porter collection in Milan. The collection incorporated the most precious fabrics, such as chiffon, silk georgette and exquisite embroideries and included both day and night wear peices, which continued to convey the same message and emotions, as already popular lingerie line.

For years, La Perla’s goal was to perfect the interpretation of desire of fantasy, which finally crystalized in the form of the sexy and chic lingerie line, called “La Perla Black Label”, in 2003. Inspired by the refined and playful sense of the subtle erotic, it included a unique special collection of corsetry and accessories.

In 2008, La Perla unveiled the amazing Limited Edition Collection, where the art of filigree inspired the new line of La Perla’s jewelry lingerie. Utilizing precious metals and trims, the inagural collection is trimmed with 14 carat gold fibers.

Since October 2008, La Perla has been owned by JH Partners, a San Francisco based private equity firm established in 1986 and focused on investments in growth-oriented consumer products and services companies, with a particular emphasis on luxury brands. Under the new ownership, La Perla continues to fascinate its devoted fans by creating its glamorous lingerie and swimwear styles dripping with beauty and luxury.

Guia la Bruna, a Young Lingerie Designer from Italy

July 2

“Everything starts from a sensation, a colour or a print, each season there is a different mood driving me through the collection.” Guia La Bruna

Italian born, Guia la Bruna studied at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, a place where she discrovered in herself a sense of creativity and gradually came to the idea of creating her own lingerie. After inheriting a lingerie factory in Turin, Italy, from her grandfather, who was already in lingerie business since 1935, mass producing lingerie, Guia la Bruna gave it a new breath. She had a different from her grandfather’s concept of the new brand, that in her vision had to be very exclusive and luxurious.

When starting her own line, Guia had the advange of having the the information on all the old styles. Her idea of using the old patterns and even used vintage laces and trims from the storerooms, and give them a new contemporary twist became an instant success. Guia’s goal was to create that unique lingerie set that she would love to discover in her grandmother’s drawer, the one that would look both retro and contemporary.

In her designs, high quality fabrics and lace are the focal points; everything starts from them. She particularly likes to use silk muslin in her collections for its delicate and fluid to touch qualities, as well for the great variety of muslin type fabrics starting with embroided or printed, and ending with applications. Guia likes the way muslin enveloped the body, how it falls giving the garments an elegant and soft movement. Guia La Bruna’s philosophy is about creating contemporary lingerie collections, which at the same time have a distinguished charmingly sensual and romantic look.

“White Laundry” Lingerie, Fresh & Contemporary Luxury

May 19

The White Laundry Lingerie collection offers a fresh and innnovative approach to lingerie that allows customers to define personal style. The collection is inspired by the current fashion trends from the streets to the runways from around the world. For sexy women that are fashion forward and open minded, White Laundry brand thrives on creating unique, yet wearable designs that don’t necessarily follow the current and traditional lingerie trends.

The White Laundry collection was designed with three key concepts in mind: multiple prints and textures allow customers to mix and match; layering of garments enables innerwear to be worn as outwear without a bedroom look; and, finally, removable accessories let you glam it up or dress it down.

White Laundry uses the latest in manufacturing technology with luxurious fabrics and materials imported from Spain and Italy, along with French imported bra linings. The collection was designed with sheer light weight fabrics, which include mesh, micro fiber, and Chantilly lace that feel good against the skin, along with delicate detailings of printed ruffles, silk bra straps, and crystal rhinestones. These elements combined with a thorough fitting process and extensive quality control allows White Laundry to achieve a higher product standard.

All styles have print driven designs with sassy details. Removable nickel-free hypoallergenic charms and pendants are another way to mix and match and be creative with your look, interchange them between different pieces of lingerie or with your favorite cami or jeans. The collection encourages mixing bras and panties with prints and colors that don’t necessarily match but can still work together. Live by the motto, glamour without rules…

La Perla’s Timeless Beauty

April 12

Today being synonymous to refined elegance, exquisite style and classic beauty, “La Perla” is the name of the glorious lingerie brand with a long history that goes back to 1954, when Ada Masotti, an artisan skilled in the tradition of hand crafted Bolognese corsetry opened a lingerie boutique in Bologna. The name of “La Perla” was inspired by the jeweler’s case lined with red velvet in which the first creations were transported.

Since then La Perla’s lingerie fashions have achieved a tremendous success in the lingerie industry and in 1971, La Perla launched its signature swimwear line of products under “La Perla Beachwear” brand name. The new swimwear collection had a resounding success, instroducing unique styles that combined natural aesthetics with a continued search for new designs and constant inspiration from haute couture. The same year has also marked the creation of La Perla’s first triangle bra in a silk nightgown.

In 1978, La Perla has introduced a new brand to the world, called “Malizia”, characterized by romantic and feminine styles with a touch of flirt. Another La Parla brand that hit the lingerie and swimwear market that year was “AnnaClub” swimwear, designed to offer a classic beachwear look for those looking for elegance combined with feeling confident about their body.

The 1980s era was marked by the launch of La Perla’s first fragrance that was designed as a celebration of La Perla’s luxurious and seductive style. The bottle, the winding shape that evokes the feminine figure, was created by the renowned designer, Pierre Dinand. In 1991, the brand has expanded sales operations by opening its first signature boutiques at the heart of the international fashion capitals of Milan and Paris.
